UNDERSTANDING
We learn that the 10 commandments are in our favor and not against us. This guideline sets us free from lies and falsehoods; therefore, the law is a protection against temptation to do wrong. This is good news…it clears the air. We can let our “yes” be “yes” and our “no” be “no.” The words that set the context for the law are found in the Beatitudes and the Sermon on the Mount which offer a New Testament understanding of the Law of Moses. The 10 commandments are basic to the Lord’s will for our lives.
